Another place Cindy and I went to during her birthday weekend in Chicago was the original Rosebud on Taylor street in Chicago's Little Italy section. There are now a number of Rosebud's around the Chicago area, but we wanted to try the original.
And we're glad we did. It was about a 10 minute cab ride out from our downtown hotel. We had reservations and we got right in. The place just had the old Italy feel to it. There were pictures of Frank Sinatra all over the place - Frank liked to eat at the place when he'd come to town.
There was also kind of a Chicago Gangster feeling to the place, too. There were a couple guys eating next to us that could have been Mafiosos.
Cindy had the Veal Saltimbocca and I had the Fettucine Alfredo. Both were outstanding. Their wine list wasn't all that extensive, but they did have a Chalk Hill chardonnay that we shared. Of course, tiramisu and cappucino's for desert.
You want to experience a little bit of heaven and history in one place - go to the original Rosebud.
