We were in Ann Arbor last fall for the Iowa/Michigan football game and sort of stumbled into Conor O'Neill's on Main Street. It's typical of most American Irish bars, a lot of dark woods through out the place. They have soccer shirts and homages to Irish poets adorning the walls. We were in there on a Friday night before the game and it was a little too packed.
Beers are what you'd expect from an Irish bar - Murphy's, Guinness, Harp, Bass, Smithwick's, Newcastle, Boddingtons, etc. The guys behind the bar were pretty helpful in discussing the differences between some of the lesser known beers they had. But I grabbed a Smithwick's from the get-go and stayed with that the rest of the night.
They do serve food there and we did eat there. It was typical bar food, nothing outstanding. They have about four or five entrees for dinner, but most of it is of the sandwich mode. I had the Corned Beef Reuben and that wasn't too bad.
I understand they have Irish bands that will come in and play from time to time. But I'm sure it's more enjoyable to be in there when it isn't as crowded as it was that night.
