My Lemon Alfredo Sauce Recipe
I've sort of perfected this. It actually seems to get better every time I make it.
1/3 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/3 cup grated Romano cheese
2 oz. Lemon Juice (can be from real lemons - preferably - or if you have access to Nellie and Joe's Key West Lemon Juice that's more than acceptable to use)
1 egg yolk
2 cups heavy cream
½ tsp. Sea Salt
1 tblsp. Garlic powder
1 tsp. Nutmeg
½ stick butter
Directions
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Add heavy cream, stirring constantly. Stir in sea salt, nutmeg, grated Parmesan cheese, and grated Romano cheese. Stir constantly until melted, and then mix in egg yolk. Simmer over medium low heat for 3 to 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in lemon juice. Garnish with additional grated Parmesan cheese, if desired.
Also before removing the sauce from heat, you can add cooked mushrooms slices, chopped cooked bell peppers, cooked broccoli crowns, broiled or grilled chicken, and/or cooked shrimp to round out the dish.
