An addendum - Brian Becker reminded me via e-mail that what he missed most about The Oak Room was their steak soup that they served daily. A bowl of that was almost a meal in it's self. I would love to have the recipe for not only their French dressing, but for their steak soup, as well.

Actually a couple of years ago I saw steak soup on the menu at the Depot in Grinnell and asked the waitress if it was as good as the steak soup at the Oak Room. She informed me that their "cook" had come from the Oak Room and makes the exact same steak soup.
