Well, it's back to work and back to writing again after a couple weeks of doing little to nothing during my vacation. I had seriously planned on writing a lot of stuff during my time off, but my "give-a-damn" factor was pretty low.
A lot of it had to do with the extremely hot and humid weather we've been experiencing in the Midwest over the past two to three weeks. I think we've had our windows open once during that time period. And they were quickly closed the next day when the humidity poured back into the region.
I sat on the deck a lot, but did a lot of reading - catching up on a number of magazines that have sat in piles in my office over the past few months. I did some cooking on the grill and smoker - everything from ribs and a brisket to doing my very own stuffed rolled pork tenderloin (right) that I'll probably write about in a later entry. It was fun to make and great eating.
I swam in the neighbor's pool. I did yard work. I didn't get to sleep late - except on the weekends - because Cindy was getting up early to go to work. And we went to the Iowa State Fair - and an entry on that will be coming shortly.
Even though I didn't really do anything or go anywhere of large significance, it was still tough to get back to work yesterday. I don't know why. Maybe it's because I just sat around home during my time off. Frankly, I started to get a little bored. Oh, Cindy had some "honey-do" stuff for me to do, and I did a few of them, but not all. Once again, my "give-a-damn" factor was pretty low during the last two weeks.
I'll start on some entries tonight and get some new and fresh material posted in the coming days. Look for my trip to the Dakotas, the entry on the Iowa State Fair, and some recipes for things I cooked during my vacation.
Geez, it's almost like I need a vacation from my vacation...
