This morning, it was 50 (F) degrees at 9:00 a.m. Right now at about 3:45 in the afternoon, it's 10 (F) degrees. We're in the initial stages of a full-blown blizzard that isn't supposed to drop a lot of snow, but temperatures will plunge to well below zero again tonight with wind gusts close to 45 miles an hour.
After enduring sub-zero temperatures a few days ago, temperatures rose into the 40's and 50's on Sunday and Monday, essentially melting the 7-plus inch snow cover that we had. But after a couple balmy days - for January - winter is hitting back and hitting back hard.
We in the midst of a blizzard warning until midnight tonight. We're just getting the wind and cold right now, but more snow is promised for this evening - one to three inches that will create tremendous amounts of blowing snow. It's a good night to start a fire, open a bottle of wine and hunker down.
God, I hate winter. I'm ready for spring.
