Happy Birthday today to my former colleague Randy Gacke who lives just outside of Omaha. He's turning 15 today. Now, of course, since it's February 29th - Leap Day - he's really turning 60. But in reality, he's closer to 15 in his mental frame of mind. He's a great guy.
I wondered if there was any famous people who shared Leap Day birthdays with my friend. I found this site on the Internet of "Famous Leapies" who were born on February 29. As I looked through the list, there wasn't really one major notable person that jumped out who was born today.
But in looking further, I found there is an Internet magazine site (which is part of the above link) that is dedicated to people who were born on Leap Day. Being born on Leap Day makes these people rather unique, but this is a little over the top.
It's actually part of a web site called the Honor Society of Leap Year Day Babies. Actually, this is an interesting site as there is a lot of trivia on Leap Day (the chance of being a Leap Day baby is 1 in 1461). There's also stories on triplets and quadruplets born on Leap Day. 
The one that got me, however, is the story of the Norwegian family (right) where the mother gave birth to three of her children in successive Leap Years. There had to be some careful planning on the parents part to pull that feat off.
So, if you're a Leap Day Baby like my buddy Randy, have a very large time today! It only comes around once every four years.
